Country music fans have something new to celebrate as Sam Hunt and his wife, Hannah Lee Fowler, quietly welcomed their third child, a baby boy named Weyman Allen Hunt, on May 21. The hitmaker recently shared insights into life with their newest family member during a July 7 interview with Taste of Country.

Hunt explained that he has had several sleepless nights since welcoming his son, but his family adjusting to their new normal.

"They're good," uttered Hunt, reffering to his tight-knit family. "A little sleep deprived. Our most recent child got here in May, so he's finally starting to sleep a little better," he added.

Unlike their first two children, Lucy Louise, 3, and Lowry Lee, 2, little Weyman is already standing out — showing his unique personality and effortlessly wrapping his parents around his tiny finger.

"We got spoiled with the first two," said Hunt. "They were fairly easy. But Weyman, my third one, he likes to beat to his own drum, I guess you could say."

In an unusual but sweet move, the couple chose to announce Weyman’s arrival through Cedartown First Methodist Church in Georgia, where the birth details were shared on Facebook.

"It's a Boy!," wrote the church. "Hannah & Sam Hunt announce the birth of their son, Weyman Allen Hunt, born May 21st, weighing 8lbs & 6oz, and 20 1/2 in. long. The proud grandparents are Joan & Allen Hunt. Congratulations to the entire Hunt Family!"

This marked a departure from the couple’s past practice of announcing their children’s births directly on social media. Hunt first announced that they were expecting before the star-studded 2024 CMA Awards.

This joyful milestone comes after a series of personal ups and downs that have deeply affected the couple, their fans, and the country music community alike.  In November 2019, the country star faced serious legal trouble when he was arrested in Nashville for driving under the influence (DUI) and possessing an open container in his vehicle. Hunt pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor DUI charges and was sentenced to 48 hours in jail, with the rest of an 11-month sentence suspended. Additionally, his driver’s license was suspended for a year.

The incident sparked widespread media attention and brought to light some of the struggles Hunt was battling behind the scenes. Just over two years later, in February 2022, the couple’s personal life made headlines again when Fowler filed for divorce. The filing cited infidelity and inappropriate marital conduct  – a revelation that shocked many fans. Adding complexity to the situation, Fowler revealed she was pregnant with their first child during this difficult period. Despite the divorce filing, the story didn’t end there. By April 2022, Hunt and Fowler had reconciled, and the divorce proceedings were dismissed

In the midst of these personal trials, Hunt has been candid about the lessons he’s learned. His recent music video for the song "Locked Up" offers a raw and reflective look at his past mistakes and the ongoing journey toward redemption and personal growth. The video and song emphasize how much strength he draws from his relationship with Fowler and the support of their family.

Fans have responded with empathy and encouragement, appreciating Hunt’s honesty and vulnerability. His willingness to confront his struggles openly has only deepened their connection to his music and story. With the arrival of their third child, many see this as a hopeful turning point for the couple.
