Justin Timberlake is taking legal action to stop the release of bodycam footage from his infamous June 2024 DWI arrest in Sag Harbor, and fans are weighing in with strong support for the pop superstar.

According to court filings obtained by Page Six, Timberlake is asking a Suffolk County Supreme Court judge to block the video’s release. This is currently part of a Freedom of Information Act request filed by media outlets.

The singer, 45, argues that the footage shows him in an “acutely vulnerable state” and captures intimate details of his appearance, speech, and conduct during the roadside sobriety test, arrest, and confinement.

Timberlake’s lawyer, Michael Del Piano, told the court that releasing the footage would cause "severe and irreparable harm" to Timberlake’s personal and professional reputation, exposing him to public ridicule and harassment. Del Piano also emphasized that the video serves "no legitimate public interest" and would constitute an "unwarranted invasion" of his client’s privacy.

The DWI arrest stemmed from an incident on June 18, 2024, when Timberlake allegedly ran a stop sign and swerved between lanes after a night out, driving his 2025 BMW. While the singer maintained he only had one martini, police reported that he failed his field sobriety tests, appeared unsteady, and had bloodshot, glassy eyes in his mugshot.
Ultimately, he pleaded guilty to the lesser, noncriminal charge of driving while impaired by alcohol. He completed 25 hours of community service, paid fines, and served a 90-day New York license suspension. At a press conference following his sentencing, Timberlake urged fans to avoid drinking and driving, emphasizing alternatives like rideshare apps, taxis, or calling a friend.

Fans have been quick to show their support for Timberlake’s legal move. Many feel they can’t blame him for trying to protect his privacy, especially after the long journey to bounce back from what many call an “explosive” arrest.

"If he were just a normal guy, would the court even be under this much pressure to release the footage?" one fan commented on social media. Supporters also point out that Timberlake has already taken accountability for his actions, and that making the footage public seems unnecessary, particularly as The Hamptons gears up for its busy season.

While the Village of Sag Harbor and its police department have not publicly responded to the lawsuit, it’s clear that the legal battle is stirring conversation not just about Timberlake’s privacy but also about the broader implications of releasing bodycam footage for high-profile individuals.

Whether the court sides with Timberlake remains to be seen, but his supporters insist this is a fight anyone would take on if placed in his shoes. How do you feel about this lawsuit? Let us know by dropping a comment below or by sending us a message on Instagram @fandomdaily_.
