For rising country artist Harper Grace, sending her single "if daddy says no" to country radio isn’t just a career milestone, it’s the culmination of a story that unfolded in real time alongside her fans.

Released through Curb Records, the deeply personal track officially marks Grace’s first impact at country radio, a moment many artists spend years working toward. But for Grace, the achievement represents something bigger than airplay…it’s proof that vulnerability, faith, and fan connection can turn a deeply personal chapter into a song that belongs to everyone.

"It’s like a dream come true," said Grace about the track hitting country radio. "I think it’s a pillar that a lot of people work towards and something that I’ve aspired to do for a long time. It feels good when hard work pays off. I really do have the fans to thank for it," she added with a beaming smile.

The Texas native didn’t set out to write a perfect love story. In fact, the song was born in the middle of emotional uncertainty. Grace found herself caught between two men who both held a piece of her heart. The man she thought she might marry and the father who wasn’t convinced he was the right one. Instead of waiting until life offered a clean resolution, she wrote the song in the middle of the tension.

"I was actually still in the relationship when we wrote it," Grace exclusively told Fandom Daily. "That’s why when you listen to the lyrics, there’s not really an ending. She doesn’t run away, she doesn’t say yes, it just sits in that moment. Because that’s exactly where I was."

That emotional honesty became the soul of "if daddy says no," a warm ballad that explores the complicated reality of growing up and trusting the wisdom of those who love you most. Rather than romanticizing the situation, Grace leans into the uncomfortable space between love and discernment – something many listeners instantly recognized in their own lives.

But the song’s journey didn’t begin with radio. For more than a year and a half, Grace quietly performed the track live during shows, often joking her way through the introduction before revealing the vulnerability behind it. What followed surprised her.

Fans began sharing their own deeply personal stories.

"I had people come up to me after shows and say, 'My dad told me no and I wish I had listened,'" she recalls. "Others told me their dad said no and they ended up happily married with kids. I even had people say they didn’t have a relationship with their dad at all, but the song still hit them emotionally. That’s when I realized this wasn’t just my story anymore."

Those conversations transformed the way Grace approached the release. Instead of simply dropping the song, she invited fans into the emotional narrative – creating one of the most talked-about rollouts of the year. For nearly three weeks, Grace convinced the internet she was engaged.

The announcement sent fans into a frenzy, only for the singer to later reveal the engagement was part of the storytelling behind the song. The carefully crafted moment mirrored the emotional uncertainty that inspired the track, blurring the line between real life and narrative.

"Well… I’m not engaged," she laughs now. "But I did tell everyone I was for about two and a half weeks. I thought, instead of method acting, maybe I’ll try ‘method artistry.’ I wanted people to walk through the same emotional questions I had when I wrote the song."

The visual storytelling continued with the cinematic music video, which features Grace’s real father and a fictional fiancé portrayed by Jackson Lancaster. Filming the project became one of the most meaningful moments of her career. Her father flew in for less than 24 hours to appear in the video, turning what once felt like a difficult chapter into a shared creative experience.

"I’m such a daddy’s girl, so having him there meant everything," Grace says. "He listened to the song when we finished it in the studio and had tears in his eyes. But he also knew he couldn’t back down from what he believed was right."

That wisdom ultimately proved true.

Grace later ended the relationship that inspired the song, but the experience reshaped her perspective in ways that extended far beyond songwriting. Those life lessons became part of a larger spiritual and personal transformation.

Grace reveals that last year she prayed for two guiding words: purification and sanctification. These are two themes that unexpectedly unfolded throughout her life and career.

"There were a lot of changes happening internally," she explains. "Leaving that relationship, growing in my faith, learning discernment… it all tied back to those words. It felt like this season of refining – figuring out what was real and what needed to go."

That process of growth now forms the emotional foundation for the music she’s creating next. Grace now sees this year as a moment to stay grounded while her career reaches new milestones. Rather than getting caught up in what’s next, she’s focused on being present in the journey.

"To me it means remaining in confidence of who I am and what I know is true," Grace explains. "I love writing music. I love telling stories. And I want to remain in those heartfelt moments with my fans."

As "if daddy says no" makes its official impact at country radio, Grace views the milestone not simply as a professional achievement, but as a reflection of the community that helped shape the song.

"I hope it hits the right heartstrings," she says. "Because even though it came from my life, this song really belongs to the people who hear themselves in it."

The moment also signals the beginning of a larger chapter. Grace is currently building toward her highly anticipated full-length project, a deeply personal body of work that will continue exploring the emotional pages of her story. She describes the album as a collection of "ripped-out pages" from her heart, moments of love, growth, faith, and hard-earned clarity.

In many ways, "if daddy says no" serves as the opening chapter.

With her debut country radio single now reaching listeners nationwide, Grace is stepping into a new era. One defined by fearless storytelling, faith-driven perspective, and a fan community that has grown right alongside her journey. And if this song proves anything, it’s that the most powerful country music often begins with the stories we’re brave enough to tell before we know how they end.
